Abstract

Cataract is the leading cause of treatable blindness globally. In India, significant proportion of population presents with mature and hard cataracts. Manual Small Incision Cataract Surgery (MSICS) has relatively shorter learning curve and can be performed in any type of cataract. MSICS can be done in resource poor settings and has several advantages including lesser need for technology, lower cost, and can be performed in high-volume setups. Recent studies have shown that there is comparable outcome among patients undergoing MSICS and phacoemulsification. In this course we are focussing on MSICS techniques to achieve the best post-operative outcome.
