An ophthalmic mimicker is usually a lesser-known disease which closely resembles a familiar ophthalmic disease and confuses the clinician, whereas, an ophthalmic masquerader is often a dangerous disease disguising as an innocuous condition. In this IC, we take the road less travelled and has tried to show a practical approach to the frequent mimickers and masqueraders in Ophthalmology. The eminent panel of speakers including Dr. Neethu Mohan from AEH, Chennai, discuss the common mimickers and masqueraders in each sub-speciality of ophthalmology and strive to update the common ophthalmologist with illustrative case scenarios, key clinical points to differentiate and distinguish each of them and the necessary investigations to reach the correct diagnosis. The common mimickers of Amblyopia, Glaucoma and Optic Neuritis as well as the masqueraders in the Periocular region and Retina are included here.
