Abstract

Surgeries on the oblique muscles have always been a challenge to the paediatric ophthalmologist. The oblique orientation of the oblique muscles along with its attachment posterior to the equator have given an aura of complexity to the obliques. Through this instruction course, we would like to simplify the complex oblique muscles. The anatomy of the muscles and its pulleys , the clinical features of oblique dysfunction and the various pathologies including the restrictive and paralytic ones are dealt with in detail. Discussing the surgeries on the oblique muscles - the superior and inferior oblique will help the strabismologist to sharpen the approach to these surgeries.
