Abstract

Amblyopia literally is dull sight, is a disorder of vision, the most common cause of visual loss in infants and young children which demands diagnosis and treatment within the first decade. Amblyopia is a Lazy Eye where the observer sees nothing and patient sees very little. Prevalence rate is 1-5% and diagnosis is by exclusion. Aetiologicaly - Strabismic 38%, Refractive -37%, Stimulus deprivation - 24%. Early detection and treatment gives best result.This IC explains the aetiopathogenesis, classification, practical tips for the clinical evaluation of amblyopia explaining investigations, role of cyclplegic refraction, oclusion, early surgery/ counciling for parents, diagnosis, management including surgical videos and recent advaces for various Amblyopia- Anisometropic, Strabismic, Stimulus Deprivation and provide opportunity to interact with eminent senior faculties who are authorities in this field.
