Abstract
Ophthalmology residents are always worried about not getting enough hands on surgical experience during their post-graduation. They are assumed to be confident and competent in basic surgeries like cataract and pterygium once their course is over. However unlike clinical training ,surgical skill acquisition in ophthalmology needs extensive , supervised hands-on training with a very low tolerance for error. Also the lack of consensus and strict guidelines in our country results in wide variation in surgical competency among our residents. Hence this IC is primarily aimed at helping residents and young surgeons in achieving and learning maximum from minimum cases they get and also to help them keep a tab of their surgical journey. It also hopes to give an insight into the various ways one can train without live patients such as with the help of wetlabs and simulators even at home.
