Abstract

Abnormal head posture(AHP) often confuses and poses a diagnostic challenge to the ophthalmologist. In this Instruction Course,we take the road less travelled;a difficult, nevertheless relevant and useful topic and has tried to show a systematic approach to understanding AHP, starting with identifying the pathology, differentiating the ocular and non-ocular causes, evaluating and measuring the head posture too.We discuss the various ophthalmic causes of AHP; including Strabismic, Neuro-ophthalmic, Refractive and Orbital causes and we have roped in eminent speakers for the same.We strive to update the common ophthalmologist with illustrative case scenarios, key clinical points to differentiate and distinguish the causes and the necessary investigations to reach the correct diagnosis.The surgical and non-surgical management of AHP due to various causes like Nystagmus, Ptosis & adnexal diseases, Paralytic, Restrictive & Pattern Strabismus and Refractive errors are discussed here in detail.
