Abstract
Aspiring scientific authors among ophthalmologists in Kerala are many. Despite the fact that most of them do brilliant clinical work, original research and publications coming out from the state, especially from ophthalmologists outside academia are few. Lack of basic research skills even among those with research aptitude is found to be a major deterrent to more clinical research output from the state.Apart from the drive to publish and flourish, evidence based ophthalmic practice also requires that academic ophthalmolgy and research skills be made everyone's business. An A-Z course in research being impossible in 55 mts, this course is designed to highlight the absolute must knows for a beginner who embarks on the road to scientific research and publication. The most relevant topics have been handpicked after much deliberation to be dealt with in a most practical way by top class faculty who have long years of experience as research mentors and editors.
