Abstract

Ocular malignancies pose serious threats to both vision and life; they present late because of paucity of symptoms in the early stages - retinoblastoma is one such. Though tumours of the ocular surface and lids present early, they are often ignored or misdiagnosed. Intraocular lymphomas are rare and are often mistaken as posterior uveitis. Metastatic tumours to both orbit and eyeball from known primaries are likely in terminal disease. Yet when ocular involvement precedes systemic signs the diagnosis is challenging.Oncology as a specialty has advanced by leaps and bounds. Newer modalities for early detection and innovative treatment options exist like targeted therapy and immunotherapy as also advances in surgical techniques, radiotherapy and chemotherapy. And knowledge of tumour genetics could dictate effective personalised and optimised treatment. Our expert, eloquent speakers will address these issues in this instruction course
