Abstract

There are some clinical conditions which excites and confuses us simultaneously every time we see one.A varied presentation,confusing differential diagnosis,unpredictable clinical course,the reasons can vary.Sometimes a combined multi disciplinary approach may be needed for the best outcome.One such case is Disc odema.Though it is no task in identifying it ,coming to the correct diagnosis on the underlying cause may be confusing.The primary care ophthalmologist can also make a timely intervention if the cause can be identified on time.The involvement of vision,the unpredictable course and outcome ,management dilemmas all add to the problem.Hence the relevance of this session in which we try to make a short and clear presentation on the most common causes,the systematic approach in identifying each ,the relevance of imaging and how to tailor the management.This can make things easier and outcomes better for both the doctor and the patient.
