Abstract
Duane’s Retraction Syndrome (DRS), being a relatively more prevalent special strabismus entity, intrigues the strabismologist with its diverse clinical presentations and unique associations. With its spectrum of mechanical, anatomic, genetic and innervational peculiarities causing incomitance, with subsequent sensory-motor adaptations, the stepwise, judicious management of DRS is challenging. A thorough understanding of the condition, interdisciplinary communication, multidisciplinary evaluation and care coordination can improve patient outcomes with this strabismus. This calls for a detailed review of the current understanding, the various mechanisms, evaluation pattern and consensus on corrective interventions, complications and prognosis of managing DRS.
