Abstract

We are living in a society where patients are aware of the need for early intervention in strabismus. Parents are not hesitant to consult ophthalmologist even at the earliest suspicion of their child having a strabismus. This necessities every consulting ophthalmologist to have a basic knowledge on strabismus and it’s managent.However majority of our comprehensive ophthalmologists are not equipped with confidence in diagnosing a strabismus in comparison to their level of confidence in making a diagnosis of diseases of retina or glaucoma . This results in referral of every child with strabismus to a specialist centre even without a primary assessment. This instruction course is designed to simplify the apparently complicated diagnostic and therapeutic aspects of strabismus to an easy to understand version. This will benefit the practicing comprehensive ophthalmologist to make a proper basic evaluation and diagnose strabismus with confidence and timely referral when needed
