Abstract

We encounter various cases of lid trauma and iatrogenic lid defects in our out patient department on a daily basis. Lid suturing/ reconstruction is a basic skill which all ophthalmologist should acquire. Doing it in a perfect way to increase the functional and aesthetic outcome needs more knowledge about the basic surgical techniques and wound/ scar management. This instruction course is mainly targeting general ophthalmologists and postgraduates to improve their practice. The topics are divided in such a manner that the audience will get knowledge about the basics of suturing, wound management, tips on minimising the scar , principles of lid reconstruction and reconstructive techniques from simple suturing to complex procedures. Also, the instructors will be talking on the techniques of oncological resection and traumatic wound management.
